A brief lowdown on our seaweed snacks
Seaweed is a natural superfood and is actually algae! Or, in more palatable words, seaweed is a nutritious vegetable that grows in the ocean, rich vitamin B12 (cobalamin), iodine, protein, fibre, and more. As seaweed is bursting with nutrients, a little goes a long way.
MORiSH seaweed sheets can be enjoyed as a snack on-the-go, or anywhere you fancy. In addition, the sheets are great to garnish your ramen noodles, rice bowls, salads, or any other meals, really.
You may have heard of toasted nori snacks, seasoned laver, crispy seaweed thins, etc, which is pretty much all the same tasty goodness.

Why our roasted seaweed is so tasty
Seaweed is synonymous with great umami flavour
It’s Mother Nature, not the roasting or seasoning, that gives the seaweed its unique umami flavour. Seaweed is rich in amino acids, such as natural glutamic acid, which imparts an umami flavour. It’s this naturally salty-sweet taste that gives seaweed its yummy flavour.
Besides, sweet, bitter, sour, and salty, umami is one of the five basic tastes your tongue can sense. Originating in Japan, the word umami means deliciousness, and the taste is best described as savoury and bold, perfectly represented in our finger-licking roasted seaweed snacks.
We only use premium raw seaweed
The raw seaweed, or laver, is contracted and directly sourced every winter from the cultivators of the Korea’s South Sea and the West Sea, which means it is harvested from clean, cold coastal waters that have enough sunlight to drive photosynthesis.
The algae look red in the sea because of the phycobiliproteins, which attract and capture light energy used in photosynthesis. After harvest, when red algae are dried, they lose their colour but keep all their luscious green nutrients.
South Korea is known for producing the world’s highest quality seaweed and our seaweed is grown in certified growing areas. The premium raw seaweed has an excellent chewing and savoury taste, and rich texture.
Roasted to perfection with only best ingredients
Every piece of MORiSH seaweed is made from only the best ingredients before being baked (not deep fried) to crispy perfection. Our seaweed is roasted twice at high temperatures, making it perfectly crispy with optimal embossing.
We select our raw seaweed, oils, salts and seasonings very carefully, and we make sure we provide the freshest products with the spirit that freshly made products taste the best.

The benefits of vitamin B12 and iodine
Nutritionists worship seaweed, and it’s easy to see why – it’s packed with iodine, vitamin B12, and a bunch of other nutrients that do wonders for your body and overall health.
Vitamin B12 is the ultimate multitasker. It supports red blood cell production, helps keep your bones healthy, boosts your energy, and even lifts your mood. A balanced diet or a little help from a supplement can make sure you’re getting all the B12 goodness you need.
Seaweed’s like the ocean’s iodine sponge, soaking up concentrated amounts of this essential mineral. Your thyroid gland – basically the control centre for growth, energy, reproduction, and cell repair – needs iodine to produce hormones. Without enough iodine, your thyroid throws a tantrum, and you might start noticing unwanted changes like fatigue, weight shifts, hair loss, or learning difficulties.
Some of our seaweed snacks are organic
Some of our seaweed products are certified organic and the raw seaweed for these snacks is cultivated in certified organic growing areas off the coast of South Korea.
Organic standards are all about keeping the marine environment healthy and boosting biodiversity. No artificial fertilizers are allowed for seaweed farming; only natural nutrients and fertilizers from the ocean are used. As a result, organic foods tend to have less pesticide residue than their conventional counterparts.
Bold in flavour – short in ingredients
We keep the natural bold umami flavour of our seaweed snacks front and centre, making sure they stay as pure and clean as possible. That means no artificial colouring, MSG, or any other sneaky additives. Just simple, delicious seaweed goodness!
We offer seaweed snacks that are seed-oil free, including our extra virgin olive oil seaweed sheets and our avocado oil seaweed snacks. Some of our products are made with sesame oil or sunflower oil (unrefined, high-oleic oil in our organic sea salt seaweed snacks). Please refer to the ingredient labels found on the package and on our website.

Why seaweed is good for our planet
Seaweed creates a ‘halo effect’
Seaweed farms can lower local ocean acidity, creating a more comfortable environment for shell-forming species like oysters and mussels, which supports stronger, more resilient marine ecosystems.
Seaweed removes CO2 from atmosphere
Seaweed captures carbon dioxide (CO2) from the ocean as it grows and stores it in its biomass. Some of this carbon can end up locked away in the deep sea. Certain seaweed species absorb carbon very efficiently, making seaweed forests an important natural tool in helping reduce CO2 levels.
Seaweed is zero input food
Seaweed grows using what the ocean naturally provides – sunlight, salt water, and nutrients already in the sea. This makes it a ‘zero-input’ crop, unlike land plants that often require irrigation, fertilisers, and large areas of farmland.
Seaweed improves water quality
As seaweed grows, it absorbs excess nutrients from the water and releases oxygen. This can help improve water quality and create healthier conditions for marine life.
Seaweed cultivation is inherently regenerative
Seaweed grows incredibly fast (much faster than many land vegetables), helps improve the surrounding marine environment and boost biodiversity, and also supports coastal communities.
From ocean to table: how our crispy seaweed is made
Sustainable and nutritious farming
Our seaweed is grown sustainably in the crystal-clear, nutrient-rich waters off the coast of South Korea. This matters to us because you can be assured that the natural marine environment within those waters is protected.
Seaweed spores are planted on rope nets, which are then hung in shallow waters. Each net is positioned just right, staying above water at low tide for maximum sunlight and dipping below at high tide for a refreshing rinse.

Harvested for top flavour and texture
The seaweed is harvested during its primordial stage between the lunar months of December and January. The timing of the seaweed harvest is key for achieving the best possible taste and texture. It’s during the cold winter in Korea that seaweed ripens and reaches its peak flavour.
It is cut right on the water to capture that sweeter, umami-packed taste, and the rich texture our snacks are loved for. Once ashore, our seaweed is thoroughly cleaned and pressed wafer-thin.

Lightly roasted until perfectly crispy
The fresh seaweed is processed by passionate Korean artisans using traditional methods. The seaweed sheets go through two rounds of roasting at high temperatures.
The first baking round dries the seaweed, which is then brushed with our oils and seasoned with a pinch of unrefined sea salt and sometimes additional flavours. The second roasting gives the sheets their perfectly crispy texture with optimal embossing.
